Rob Davis

June 21 - September 7, 2024

Born in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1970, the artist Rob Davis has spent the past six years making paintings that mine his childhood memories – specifically those from ages five to eight, a time of “magical thinking” among children. His hyperrealist images depict empty kitchen tables, living rooms, and porches; piles of records and plants in macrame holders. While Davis’s paintings emerge from his own lived experience, their investigation of the domestic possesses universal resonance for all viewers, particularly those familiar with the 1970s.
