Introduction to Fly-Tying is designed for the beginner with no or minimal experience looking to tie their own flies. In this two-class series, instructor James Gillespie will teach students how to tie classic flies as he shares his knowledge of fly-tying tools, materials, and basic techniques. Participants will leave with the flies they create and the ability to tie a basic fly pattern. All materials and tools will be provided. No prior experience is necessary. If participants have any of their fly-tying tools, they are welcome to bring them.
Age and ability: 16+ years old and beginners welcome
This 2-session workshop takes place Thu, Jan 30 6–8pm and Thu, Feb 6, 6–8pm at the Hailey Classroom.
All supplies will be provided by SVMoA.
About the instructor:
James Gillespie is a self-taught fisherman who has been fishing his entire life. Tying his own flies has always been a part of his love of fishing, and he looks forward to sharing what he knows with interested students.
