COMMUNITY WORKSHOP: Botanical Cyanotypes

with Ashley Larson

Saturday, August 17, 2024 - 1:00 PM

Delve into the alternative photography process of cyanotypes and learn about their historical role in botanical illustrations. In this workshop, participants will coat paper with light-sensitive chemicals and choose from an array of natural materials to compose their own work of art. Watch as sun exposure transforms the compositions and brings the cyanotypes life.

Each participant will leave with knowledge of the technical aspects of cyanotype creation and their own unique and captivating piece of botanical art.

Students are encouraged to bring their own natural objects for making cyanotypes.

This workshop will include paper coating during the workshop rather than using pre-coated paper.

Age & ability: all ages and levels; beginners welcome!

This workshop takes place from 1–4pm at SVMoA's Hailey Classroom.
