(SESSION 1) EVENING EXHIBITION TOUR: Wabi Sabi

Thursday, March 10, 2022 - 4:30 PM

Enjoy a glass of wine as you tour the exhibition with The Museum’s curators.

Four contemporary artists, two ceramists and two fiber artists, explore the Japanese notion of wabi sabi and ideas around imperfection, impermanence, repair and transformation. Often defined as flawed beauty, the wabi sabi aesthetic connotes asymmetry, economy and the forces of nature and time. Henry Whiting, collector of contemporary Japanese teabowls, will participate in the tour and share his history with Shiro Tsujimura’s ceramics and their relationship to his Frank Lloyd Wright residence.

Session 1 Exhibition Tour takes place from 4:30–5:20pm.

Part of SVMoA's visual arts exhibition Wabi Sabi.
