TEEN WORKSHOP: Introduction to Fly-Tying

with James Gillespie (for students entering grades 6–12)

Thursday, June 9, 2022 - 10:00 AM

Introduction to Fly-Tying is designed for the beginner looking to tie their own flies. In this class, instructor James Gillespie will teach students how to tie classic flies as he shares his knowledge of fly tying tools, materials, and basic entomology (the study of insects). Participants will leave with the flies they create and the ability to tie a basic fly pattern. All materials and tools will be provided. No prior experience necessary!

This workshop takes place from 10am–12pm.

About the Instructor

James Gillespie is a self-taught fisherman who has been fishing his entire life. Tying his own flies has always been a part of his love of fishing, and he looks forward to sharing what he knows with interested students.

Teen workshops are generously supported by Joyce B. Friedman.
