CONCERT: Laura Cortese & the Dance Cards

Singer-Songwriter Salon Concerts

Thursday, January 18, 2024 - 7:30 PM

Laura Cortese and the Dance Cards have a vision for their band’s sound: bold and elegant, schooled in the lyrical rituals of folk music and backed by grooves that alternately inspire Cajun two-stepping and rock-n-roll hip swagger. Performing as a trio with Valerie Thompson on cello and Isa Burke on guitar and fiddle (a frequent bandmate of Lula Wiles and Aoife O'Donovan), these women produce music as rich and intricate as any symphony, as heartfelt and true as any country classic. Centered on the virtuosic string instrumentation of its members, Laura Cortese & the Dance Cards ties together driving rhythms, broad creative vision, and resonant harmonies to create music that sweeps you up in its current, carrying you away from your everyday worries and into the arms of its cathartic embrace.
