CREATIVE JUMP-IN: Building Layers with Oil and Cold Wax

with Stacy Phillips

Friday, September 17, 2021 - 10:00 AM

In this workshop, students will explore the basics of mixed media with oil using Williamsburg Handmade Oil Paint, cold wax, powdered pigments and other materials. Participants will create abstract layers through textures, line and colored fields that they can then mine through the development of their own mark making. This rich medium helps generate a space for the artist to create intentional layers and discover unintentional layers of abstraction. In this workshop, students will explore technique, discuss concept and composition, and also reserve time to work. While some painting experience is preferred, the workshop is open to all levels. Students will create multiple works on paper and wood panels.

This 4-day workshop will take place Thu–Sun, Sep 16–19, from 10am–4pm daily.

Age 18 and older, beginners welcome!
