CREATIVE JUMP-IN: Intro to Encaustic Monotype Printmaking

with Nancy Vorm

Sunday, August 9, 2020 - 9:00 AM

Encaustic monotype uses a heated palette with an application of pigmented wax on the palette’s metal surface to create instant results. It is an intuitive process that is quick, unpredictable and spontaneous! Printing with pigmented waxes offers an opportunity to investigate a wide variety of ideas and methods to inspire and expand the artist’s visual language.

Many techniques will be presented throughout the workshop to create encaustic prints utilizing variables of heat, wax paper and pressure to produce a multitude of interesting effects. Adding to this, a variety of mark making ideas will be demonstrated using different media, such as graphite and inks for students to further enhance their work. Participants can expect to create numerous prints as they explore and discover the endless possibilities of printing with heated wax.

This class takes place Fri–Sun, Aug 7–9, from 9am–4pm daily.

Medium: Printmaking

Age and ability: adults, beginner to intermediate
