Art on Film: Starring Adam West

Join SVMoA and Merlin's Magic Lantern for a screening of Starring Adam West, a documentary portrait about the life and work of Adam West. The documentary follows the Hollywood survivor and family man who became a household name as the iconic star of the Batman TV series from 1966-1968 and the star of the 1966 film. Starring Adam West tells the uplifting story of West’s determination and dedication that have made him an enduring Hollywood legacy. The film also follows the career ups and downs of television's Batman as his confidants fight to get him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The film will be screened in conjunction with the exhibition at Forest Service Park, Bright Knight: The Life & Legacy of Adam West, organized in collaboration with the family of longtime Ketchum resident, Adam West, and the city of Ketchum and coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the landmark television series “Batman.” The exhibition will feature materials spanning Adam West’s life and career, including photographs from his childhood on a ranch in Walla Walla, Washington; images from his early acting career; still photographs from the “Batman” television set; and a collection of Batman memorabilia. Additional highlights will include sound recordings, video, images from his voice work on “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy,” and a selection of paintings created by West in the later decades of his life.

The film is directed and produced by James Tooley, a Wood River Valley local. Film Length: 1 hour 38 minutes.  


This film screening takes place at Merlin's Magic Lantern, Ketchum, at 5pm.
