Sharron Matthews\nis a n award-winning cabaret performer. Her performance of “Full Dark”\nwas named by broadwayworld.com as Best Cabaret Performance of 2015 and\nshe ’s won “Best of the Fest” at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Her\np erformances include storytelling and mash-up pop songs – think Shirley\n Bassey meets Madonna.
Sharron has performed on TV\, stage and in\nf ilms. She grew up in Hamilton\, Ontario and moved to Toronto when she was\ n20. She always wanted to be Cher\, Marie Osmond\, Carol Burnett and\nDawn …from Tony Orlando and Dawn…and if you are too young to know who\nDawn is…she says\, “sigh.” So she set out…to be all of those\npeople …as well as Tim Curry from Rocky Horror and Dame Edna…as well as\nthe most excellent version of herself! Sharron has created a “Cabaret for\nK ids” for the Young People’s Theatre of Toronto and will bring her\nexp erience as an actor\, performer\, and singer to students while in the Wood \nRiver Valley.
Guests 21 and over will receive a complimentary \nglass of wine with their ticket. The performance is geared for those 16 and\nup.

This week-long\nstudio workshop offers students a chance to explore the varied qualities of\nthe oil painting medium with respected painter Connie Borup. Working from\nph otographs\, students will learn indirect painting techniques such as\nunde rpainting\, glazing\, stenciling\, washing and scumbling. Each student is\ nencouraged to develop his or her personal style and be open to new\ndisco veries.
Connie’s recent art work has been taking a closer\,\nmore intimate look at nature. She is drawn to the quiet\, meditative\naspect s of the natural world\; fascinated by the shapes of plants\, leaves\,\npo ds\, branches and twigs and the play of light and shade on their surfaces. \nThese patterns generate visual and meditative interest. Reflections and\ nshadows offer a chance to stop and observe complex patterns in nature. Th is\ncomplexity can increase the meditative state by holding one’s attent ion\nand focus longer. Connie's paintings investigate the different levels of\nreality we can observe in the natural world.

He joined\n the National Geographic in 1983 as a picture editor. Kent\ncurren tly conducts photographic workshops and lectures internationally on\nthe p hilosophy\, ethics\, and business of photojournalism. Before joining the\n National Geographic\, Kent spent eighteen years at the\nMinne apolis (Minnesota) Tribune -- sixteen years as a staff\nphotographer and two years as editor of the Tribune’s Sunday\nmagazine. His photographic work has taken him to more than 85\ncountries.
Gerd’ s work beautifully captures all the complexities\nlife has to offer. Wheth er it is the sweetness of a hug and a kiss or the\npoignancy of children b orn with serious birth defects\, his photography\nresonates with a full sc ale of emotion. By combining strong composition\,\nsocio-economic content\ , and a journalistic style\, Ludwig creates images\nthat broaden the mind and touch the soul. His ongoing coverage of post\nSoviet Russia has garner ed his distinction as being the world’s foremost\ncolor photographer doc umenting the region.
