SOLD OUT! TEEN WORKSHOP: Handmade Hardcover Journal

with Angela Batchelor (for kids in grades 6–12)

Wednesday, July 29, 2020 - 10:00 AM

Learn to make a unique handmade journal perfect for writing or lettering in. In this class students will learn three different methods to hand decorate paper that will then be used to construct a hardcover drumleaf book of their very own. No bookmaking experience is necessary as we will cover basic bookbinding techniques such as finding paper grain, folding paper, joining paper and covering boards. Students will be provided with clear instruction and handouts. This is a great class if you are new to bookmaking!

This workshop takes place Wed, July 29 from 10am-4pm.

About The instructor:
Angela Batchelor currently lives in Twin Falls, Idaho with her husband and two sons where she is an Assistant Professor of Art at the College of Southern Idaho. Her background is in painting and printmaking, but she fell in love with calligraphy, paper and book arts while teaching in Portland, Oregon. Angela’s artwork meanders between expressive mark-making and mixed media pieces to ones that focus on religious, social and scientific themes. Her works have been featured in national and international exhibitions.
