To prepare for Día de los Muertos, Sun Valley Museum of Art and The Hunger Coalition are hosting an afternoon that will involve learning about the elements of an altar, making crafts that can be included in an altar for day of the dead, a short dance class to learn some Son Jarocho dance steps, and music by Las Cafeteras.
Crafts will take place from 1–3pm, the short dance class at 2pm, and at 3:30pm the music will begin!
All activities will be in both English and Spanish.
Las Cafeteras’ concert and residency is supported by a grant from the Association of Performing Arts Professionals, made possible through support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
This community craft making day with music is part of The Museum’s Community Celebration “Honoring Traditions: Día de los Muertos,” made possible in part through a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities: Democracy demands wisdom.
