Join us in\ncelebr ation of our 50th birthday at a concert for the community with\nPortland ’s incredible “little orchestra” Pink Martini\, featuring\nChina For bes. The concert will take place Thursday\, Aug. 26\, in the Sun\nValley P avilion and on the lawn.
Pink Martini is led by the dynamic and hyperenergetic\ nThomas Lauderdale. The group’s repertoire is inspired by music from\nar ound the world and crosses genres of classical\, jazz and old-fashioned\np op. With 12 musicians onstage and songs performed in 25 languages\, Pink\n Martini has crisscrossed the globe and has played with more than 70\norche stras.
Lauderdale’s co-conspirator in the band is his Harvard\ncl assmate China Forbes. A year after starting the band\, Lauderdale invited\ nForbes to join Pink Martini\, and they began penning songs together. Sinc e\nthen\, Forbes and Lauderdale have co-written many of Pink Martini’s m ost\nbeloved songs\, including “Sympathique\,” “Lilly\,” “Clemen tine\,”\nand “Let’s Never Stop Falling in Love.” Forbes’ origina l song\n“Hey Eugene” is the title track of Pink Martini’s third albu m\, and\nmany of her songs can also be heard on television and film.
